Quote of the Weekend

I was going to post this at Juice, but then I thought you guys would have a much better chance of "getting it."

So Jack, Quincy and I were on the way to daycare when Jack spotted a set of winding stairs out his window. He was fascinated, begged me to go on them and then said he was going to have winding stairs in his house when he was a daddy (suddenly, I pictured Jack as a middle-aged cable repairman living in the country with his cats, his cold bedroom and his satellite dish).

Anyway, we moved from that to a larger discussion about building houses. He said he was going to build two big houses when he grows up -- one for me and one for his dad. I asked if they could be together so we could still share a bedroom. He said yes, and that he'd build us bunkbeds so that Daddy could sleep with Quincy on the bottom, and he and I could have the top.

Jack then informed me that Grandpa was building a house in Colorado, and that he was building bunkbeds in it for Jack and Quincy. I said, "Yea, that will be cool. We'll have to visit a lot."

He said, "Well, we're going out there on July 4th."

I said, "That's right, Budddy. You're such a good listener."

"Yea, and I'm going to go upstairs and sleep when we get there. That's my favorite part of going to Colorado. I like to go upstairs and snore."

Chip off the old block.
